More than 92 million for Botticelli

Sotheby’s has broken its records for Old Master paintings auctions, selling Botticelli’s “Portrait of a Young Man Holding a Medallion” for $80 million, which, with commission, comes to $92,184,000.
The buyer is not yet known, although there are rumours that it could be Russian. This was the highest-priced old master painting ever sold by Sotheby’s, although it is far from the record achieved by Leonardo’s “Salvator Mundi” at Christie’s.
Although they have not been able to break the 100 million barrier, the price achieved is a remarkable success, especially in the current circumstances.
