New Spanish Gothic painting curator at Museo del Prado

Doctor in Art History at the Autonomous University of Barcelona with the thesis Images and ideas in late Catalan painting and professor of Medieval Art at the University of Girona since 1997. He is fundamentally dedicated to study the meanings and functions of architecture and visual arts in gothic Catalonia.

Joan Molina was elected last December, with a score of 91,5. His work focuses on two lines of research: the beginnings of the Gothic cathedral of Girona and the relationship between art and power in the Neapolitan court of Alfonso the Magnanimous. He is the curator of the exhibitions “Bernat Martorell and the Autumn of the Catalan Gothic”, “The Margarit Bishop and his age” and author of the books “Art, devotion and power in Late Catalan Gothic Paintings” and “Fragments of Gothic Art in Girona”, as well as nearly forty articles published in national and foreign magazines.
